EMD Engines for Mexico Pass Factory Acceptance Test

Two medium speed Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) engines sold by Resource Power Group (RPG) have passed their Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT). The engines were fabricated at the Caterpillar-Progressive Rail facility in La Grange, Ill where the FAT took place. The engines have been certified by the American Bureau of Shipping and are International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier II emissions compliant. The EMD 12ME23A, (12-710-G5C) engines are part of a propulsion package provided by RPG to Astilleros Marecsa, in Mazatlán, Mexico for the Exportadora de Sal S.A., or ESSA, towing vessel, Barco Remolcador Cormorán. “The engines are built like a tank and purr like a kitten,” according to RPG Project Manager Henry Cook. “EMD did a great job.”
